A shopaholic's paradise could best describe Pendle as a place for the dedicated bargain hunter. The choice includes town centre shopping, open markets, mill shops and factory outlets.
The town centres of Pendle offer a variety of shops, including small family businesses offering local produce, in fact everything from designer goods to arts and crafts, all are available in the small market towns of the area.
The centres of Colne and Nelson have both indoor and outdoor markets with cheerful, friendly stallholders giving good value and a quality service. Here you can treat yourself to local delicacies such as black puddings, tripe, home made ice creams, and on the local farmers' market days luxuries such as venison, ostrich and locally produced yoghourts are also on sale.
A special feature of the area, well known throughout the North of England, are the numerous mill shops and factory outlets, offering a vast array of branded goods at well below retail prices. Many factory outlets both manufacture and sell from their own shops on site, items ranging from textiles, craft and sewing supplies, hand made chocolates, furniture, china and household goods, not to mention the huge selection of designer clothing available at local mill shops, even hand-made biscuits for a well known London store.
